Hope House of Manitowoc County was awarded a $41,000 grant as part of Lowe’s Hometowns. Our organization is one of three Wisconsin recipients, and 100 nonprofits nationwide to receive a grant to make physical improvements to our space as a part of Lowe’s largest-ever community impact program. As part of the grant, Lowe’s will restore the Manitowoc homeless shelter which serves more than 90 people each year. On average, half of those we serve are children.
Hope House moved into their static shelter at 1000 South 35th St in 2017. Communal living creates much wear and tear on multiple bathrooms, kitchens, laundry rooms, and family rooms. This grant will allow improvements to the environment within the house, and help beautify the exterior to create a warm and welcoming temporary home for our residents while they work hard to meet their goals.
Hope House helps to create structure out of chaos by creating a goal-oriented plan so those desperately in need of shelter can focus beyond daily survival, to a life of stability.
Now in year three of a five-year $100 million commitment, Lowe’s will complete another 100 signature projects – located in the hubs and heartbeats of communities nationwide - that will restore and revitalize spaces across 44 states by the end of 2024. Learn more about the program here.
